John S. Marmaduke Means was but thirty-two years of age at the time of his death. His Woodman of the World grave marker is styled as a vertical tree stump with cut branches, set on a base of square-cut logs that are adorned with leaves and ivy. The inscription is:

JOHN M.
MEANS
AUG 24, 1886
APR 18, 1919
God in his wisdom
has recalled
The boon that he
had given
And though the
body slumbers here
The soul is safe
in Heaven
