The hiking route St. Olav's Way is a 1200 km long pilgrimage route that goes from Turku in Finland, across the Aland Islands, Sweden and to Trondheim in Norway. It is also called St. Olav's Waterway as it also crosses over the sea.
Already a thousand years ago, people wanted to travel to Nidaros, the medieval city of Trondheim, to visit St. Olav's burial site. Olav Haraldsson (995-1030) was king of Norway. After his death he became the most important Nordic Saint of the Middle Ages.
Along the route there are several historic places and sights.
