Acting Lieut. John M. O'Connor was one of the first on the scene to fight an out of control fire at 91 Truman Street. He was trying to save the people trapped inside when he had fallen to the ground. He suffered a heart attack as he was pulling a hose to fight the flames. He was 63 years old.
