Lemström's canal is a 350 m long canal that was dug in 1882 between Slemmern and Lumparn. It was the Russians who built the canal to make it easier to sail to the east and increase trade within the Russian Empire.
The swing bridge is opened and can be passed by ship for 10 minutes every hour, for example at 9 am, 10 am, 11 am and so on. In the summer period, the openings take place between 9am and 10pm, and in spring and afternoon it is between 11am and 6pm.
