The Carillon was constructed as a memorial to the men of Bathurst and District who served in World War One.
It now commemorates those who have served in other conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

Constructed in 1933 from 212,000 red bricks to commerate local servicemen who served in the First World War.
The Carillon consists of 47 bells, an original arrangement of 35 was upgarded in 2018 with an additional 12 bells and a clavier added.
Those bells play a tune each day at noon and 1pm, as well as chiming briefly every 15 minutes to mark the hour.
