This Ancient World evidence is a petroglyph on stone that can be found in the Tu-Endie-Wei State Park at 1 Main St, Point Pleasant, WV 25550. The park contains several monuments and a pre-Victorian home as it was the site of a 1774 Point Pleasant Battle. I was there as a historical buff since the main monument is a tall obelisk I could see as I entered the city.

Believed to have been a Shawnee altar stone made by the Water Panther Clan, which was Cornstalk's Clan, this stone was found at nearby Leon, WV, at 10-Mile Creek. The spiral shape of the tail is believed to represent the whirlpools that were in the Kanawha River at the time. The Shawnee purportedly believed that it would drag the evil spirits to the bottom of the river. The different levels of the steps indicate where the Shawnee placed offerings to their gods.

"The Panther Petroglyph, also known as the Water-Panther Stone, is a boulder on which the stylized image of an animal has been carved. Discovered along Thirteenmile Creek near Leon, West Virginia, in Mason County, the stone has been moved to a sheltered location at Tu-Endie-Wei State Park at Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Some archaeologists theorize that the prehistoric engraving represents a panther or more specifically an "Underwater Panther." According to archaeologist Karen Strom, the mythologies of the indigenous peoples of the Great Lakes hold that underwater panthers are water monsters that live in opposition to Thunderbirds, masters of the powers of the air. The Underwater Panther is an opposing-yet-complementary force, with which the Thunderbird is engaged in eternal conflict."-Panther Petroglyph
