The Joggers statue is along Oxford Drive in the western edge of the park. It was created by the artist Filippo Bermani in about 1975. Four geometric, sheet steel figures are in a running position, each with a leg extended backward or elevated. The figures are in two differently-sized groups, each with a male and female. The sculpture has an elevated rock filled pedestal/sitting area surrounding it.
Dimensions are:
Overall: approx. 7 x 14 x 5 ft.
Larger grouping: approx. 7 ft. x 4 ft. x 1 cm.
Smaller grouping: approx. 3 1/2 ft. x 2 ft. x 1 cm.
The sculpture was a gift of Philip and Muriel Berman, local philanthropists who donated much modern art to the City of Allentown.
We call them the 'Jogging Family' statues.
