The traffic bridge "Klaffbron" (literally folding bridge) is the extension of the road Torggatan and connects the eastern and western parts of the city. It spans the Trollhätte Canal with its locks built to bridge the 32m difference in height through the former Trollhätte waterfall (and today's hydroelectric power station).
The bascule bridge, completed in 1959, has a total length of 50m and a total width of 21m. Two double flaps span a clear width of 33.8m and on each of the two flaps are two lanes and a footpath. The load-bearing parts on both sides of the canal were cast in concrete and also contain the machines in the bridge chambers, which lift the bridge. The opening of the bridge is controlled by the shipping administration of the Trollhätte Canal from the locks.
