The Palace Saloon appears in Roadside America as one of two attractions to visit in Ferndale. A plaque hangs in front of the establishment and reads:

Ferndale Palace Saloon

Circa 1890. Farthest Westernly Bar in the continental United States.

Dedicated on February 13, 1993, by the
Native Sons of the Golden West.
Harly M. Harty, Grand President
In Memory of Joseph G. Oeschger PGP

This building is listed as contributing building No. 21 as part of the Ferndale Downtown Historic District and listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. It was erected in 1902 and opened as Mike Donnelly's Palace Saloon on the lower floor. During Prohibition, the store operated briefly as a restaurant using the same name. In 1960, the Dusinas opened a modern liquor store in the building that operated in conjunction with the bar. Inside, the original bar and much of the ornate interior woodwork can still be seen.
