"The farola fernandina is an object of street furniture used in some localities in Spain. They are in the fernandino style, which is a late French style in the context of neoclassicism. The term "fernandino" is for Ferdinand VII, although in cities such as Cordoba the fernandino style is observed in churches in reference to Ferdinand III1 and also fernandina street lamps in reference to Ferdinand VII.2
The fernandinas lampposts were first installed in Madrid, but later their placement spread throughout Spain even during the reign of Isabel II, also receiving the name of isabelinas.3 Usually in their base they have the figure of the monarch (two opposing ephes and a VII), in addition to a crown on the emblem. Under the shield is the date 1832, the date of birth of the Infanta Luisa Fernanda.
Sometimes they are used with other types of support or without any support, adhered to the wall of the street. The lantern is mostly glazed and without glass those that use LED lights, with cylindrical shape and with the upper part in the shape of a dome with a crown, and a smaller crown on top. Sometimes it is also called fernandina to a streetlight with the support of a fernandina but with a sphere-shaped lantern."
