This mural is painted on the side wall of Altitude Marketing, the former Wentz Hardware building on Main Street.
The Mural was painted in 2021 and shows the past heritage and current themes prevalent in Emmaus, such as hikers and bikers on nearby South Mountain, the Shelter House and Emmaus Moravian Church and the weekly Farmer's Market. I personally think the lettering is kind of art deco. Green and Yellow (Emmaus high school's colors) are dominant colors.
Emmaus resident Shirley Ann Kline entered HGTV's (Home and Garden TV) "Celebrate Home Town Sweepstakes" in 2020 and won the $5000 prize. There were 80,000 entries and Mississippi sign painter River Prince painted the mural. HGTV contacted Borough leadership in August 2020 and they originally thought it was a prank!
Once the realized it was legitimate, Borough officials brainstormed images and the best building for the canvas with the Emmaus Arts Commission. Altitude Marketing at 225 Main St were contacted as the building had a large plain wall.
Residents of the borough are proud of they new mural, which can best be seen sipping a beverage at the brewpub across the parking lot.
