The large main sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church of Georgetown is at 410 E. University Avenue, Georgetown, TX 78626. It is at the corner of University Ave. and Ash Street. The Eric McKinney Ministry Center is facing Ash Street and its parking lot is between the building and East 13th Street, at the corner of Ash and E. 13th St. The labyrinth is on the grass at the end of the parking lot, and the labyrinth's entrance faces toward E. 13th Street.
The labyrinth at the First UMC of Georgetown church is professionally made and the pathway is of dark gray pavers while the pathway's edge is defined by pavers of a red color. The width of the path is five pavers wide, while the edges are only one paver wide. This labyrinth is flat across the top surface, so walking it poses no problem with stumbling on raised edge bricks since all bricks are installed at the same level. The path is laid out as an 8-circuit medieval design. There are no petals in the center nor lunation's along the outer edge of the labyrinth. The center circle is large since the overall diameter of the labyrinth totals 40 feet across.
The pathway to the labyrinth's center is designed to complement the concept that walking a labyrinth allows you to meditate and release your tensions and worries on the way in. At the center, you can leave those frustrations there, seek insight on a solution and can return on the same path back with a more relaxed attitude of hope and contentment.
