The Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church is across Church Road from the Morgenland cemetery. The Church originally a Lutheran and Reformed union church that was erected in 1759. By the end of the 18th Century the church became dilapidated and unsafe and was abandoned. The congregations reorganized in 1847 and a stone church was constructed on the site.
The Morgenland Cemetery Association was formed in 1885 to take control of the cemetery from the congregations. There are approximately 25 veterans of the Civil War interred in the cemetery and the oldest legible gravestone in Morgenland Cemetery is dated 1769.
There does not appear to be a sign, other than a temporary one.
I tried to find some Revolutionary War gravestones while I was there, but could not locate any during my brief visit.
