This sign is on the hillside above the actual confluence. It is striking because the Yoho River comes from a glacier, and its waters have a distinctive colour due to the glacial silt.
Decades ago, you could easily see the confluence from this viewpoint, but tree growth has heavily screened the view.
This is just outside of the winter gate that closes off the upper Yoho Valley Road during the winter months.The viewpoint also serves as the turnaround point when the gate is locked, from October to late June.

THERE IS A MARKED CONTRAST IN THE COLOUR OF THESE TWO MERGING RIVERS.
THE MILKY COLOURATiON OF THE YOHO RIVER IS CAUSED BY GLACIAL SILT FROM NEARBY GLACIERS. GLACIAL SILT IN THE KICKING HORSE RIVER HAS SETTLED OUT IN A SERIES OF UPSTREAM LAKES LEAVING CLEARER WATER.
