Samuel Harrison Elrod(1856-1935) — of Clark, Clark County, SD. Was born in Coatesville, Hendricks County, Ind., May 1, 1856. Son of Jesse F. Elrod and Lydia (Pursel) Elrod; married to Mary Ellen Masten. Republican. Lawyer; postmaster; Governor of South Dakota, 1905-07; delegate to Republican National Convention from South Dakota, 1928. Methodist. Died July 13, 1935.
