Small stone bridge over Kantra Valley. The bridge is about 3 meters wide and 25 meters long and can only be used by pedestrians.
The bridge is part of the Heritage Trail which you can follow from Xlendi. The trail follows the coastline before reaching the valley. Here you go to the right, cross the stone bridge and follow the path up over the rocks before reaching the Xlendi Watchtower. This tower was built in 1650 by the Order of the Knights of St John. Presumably the bridge was built in the same period.
The bridge is an arch bridge built of large, square limestone.
Limestone has been used as a building material in Malta and Gozo for centuries. This applies to both churches, private houses and this bridge.
