This three meters high bronze statue of a young woman kissing a sailor of the "Royal Port Authority" is located between the Fort Michelangelo and the pier called Molo del Bicchiere (quay 8) in Civitaveccia, Lazio, Italy. The young woman wears 1940's style summer clothes while the sailor wears the old uniform of the Royal Port Authority.

The name of this statue is “Kissing in Memory of a Port” ("Il Bacio della Memoria di un Porto") and was inaugurated on September 16th 2020, during the 150 years anniversary celebration of the Italian Port Authority.

The creator of the project is Ivana Puleo, one of the managers of the Administration and Finance Area on behalf of the Company of general interest services in the port of Civitavecchia - Fiumicino and Gaeta: Port Utilities SpA. The statue was designed by the Pontificia Fonderia Marinelli, one of the oldest foundries in Italy.

During World War II, the Allies launched several bombing raids against Civitavecchia, which damaged the city and inflicted several civilian casualties.

The monument was created to remember people who left the port of Civitavecchia for war and to rebuild a “memory” lost on 14th May 1943, when a heavy bombardment devasted not only the historical Port Authority Office, but also a large part of the port area and the city centre, erasing centuries of history.
