The mighty, 51 m high, seven-storey tower is an example of Northern Italian engineering. It was built between 1586 and 1592 at the expense of the municipality and Oldrich Krajír of Krajk, under the direction of the master builder Francesco Garofo de Bissone, whose tombstone was found in the tower's annexe. The tower is decorated with typical sgraffito blockwork, a stone tablet with the coat of arms of the Krajirs and a Czech verse inscription about the foundation and construction of the tower, an inscription with the names of the members of the town council and a stone relief of the town emblem dating from 1592.
The oldest bell of St. Lawrence from 1483 is also preserved on the tower. There are currently three bells on the tower. The largest and oldest bell is St. Lawrence's bell (480 kg), which dates back to 1483. In 1990, it was joined by St. Mary and St. Agnes, which were made in the workshop of master bell-ringer Laetitia Dytrychová in Brodek u Prerova and consecrated on 4 November of the same year. However, the bell of St. Lawrence was not alone in the past either. In 1564, the bell of St. James (400 kg) was added, in 1727 the original pair was supplemented by the Virgin Mary (100 kg), the fourth addition was the bell of St. Florian (86.5 kg) and in 1859 St. Joseph or "Dušicka" - the dying man (59 kg) completed the five.
Destinations Historical viewpoints Climbing the tower is possible in the main tourist season (July, August). The ticket office is located on the top floor of the building-
