The church is located in the middle of the Peace Square, on the area of the former cemetery, which is surrounded by a wreath of town houses built around its perimeter. The church contains a number of valuable building structures, mainly from the High Gothic period, late 14th century - the foundations of the tower, chancel, perimeter masonry and vaults of the side aisles; Late Gothic, second half of the 15th century - the vault of the nave and the mid-16th century construction of the tower; from the Baroque period, 18th century - the addition of the side chapels.

City Tower was erected in 1503, the belfry and watchtower stand in the place of the former church vestry. The tower construction was completed forty-six years later in 1549. The building was greatly funded by the drapers’ guild. The tower is 56.5 metres tall and it takes 176 steps to get to the lookout gallery.
