Drei Tage vor Weihnachten 1993, am 21.12.1993, wurde Eberbach am Neckar von einem schweren Hochwasser heimgesucht. Damals stieg der Pegel des Neckar auf 9,45 Meter. Das Wasser stand im überwiegenden Teil der Altstadt von Eberbach. Ein kurzer Film auf YouTube gibt einen Eindruck: (visit link)

Das Weihnachtshochwasser hatte nicht nur in Eberbach, sondern auch in vielen anderen Städten verheerende Folgen und Verwüstungen zurück gelassen. Es ging als Weihnachtshochwasser in die Geschichtsbücher ein.
