Among the most valuable preserved monuments are, for example, the Church of St. Francis Xavier and the Baroque fountain in the square, the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary, the building of the Slovácko Museum, the Chapel of St. Sebastian, and the city fortifications.
The Church of St. Francis Xavier
The church, built in 1670-1685 according to the project of Dominic Orsi, is part of the complex of the former monastery of the Jesuit order. The whole complex was completed in the 1820s. Since the end of the 18th century, when the Jesuit college ceased to exist, the church has served as a parish church. The church is richly decorated and forms a dominant feature of the town.
