St. Peter's Episcopal Church is at 320 St. Peter Street, which is between Tivy Street and Washington Street. The church faces Main Street and has the City Center for the Performing Arts building as its neighbor at the corner of Main Street and Washington Street.
However, to get to the church's parking lots, enter them from behind the church by using Jefferson Street, then turning onto St. Peter Street, which leads directly to the parking lots.
From the church parking lots, walk toward Main Street and if you pass next to the main sanctuary on the walk to the front, you will arrive with the front door to your left and the labyrinth to your right.
The St. Peter's Episcopal Church has an impressive labyrinth! It is semi-surrounded by a 7 foot high limestone rock circular wall with water falls that bubble and babble down the rugged rock wall. This water feeds the ferns and other greenery growing on and at the base of this privacy wall which block the view and distractions of the heavy automobile traffic that is zooming by just on the walls outer wall! While walking the labyrinth you hear the bubbling of the water but not the traffic noises. It creates a wonderfully relaxing environment. The large oak trees also cool the area while also muffling the city noises and providing shade.
The labyrinth has red crushed granite for the pathway and an excellently made edging. The edging is really poured concrete set into the ground with the uniformly choses river rocks of similar sizes set into the concrete and held firmly in place. No problem with rocks being misplaced or falling into the path. The uniformity of the edges gives a "neat and clean" look and feel to the whole space. Another outstanding feature of this labyrinth is the number of lunations and petal circles along the outer edge, at the entrance, and within the center circle. All nicely and proportionally constructed.
The pathway to the labyrinth's center is designed to complement the concept that walking a labyrinth allows you to meditate and release your tensions and worries on the way in. At the center, you can leave those frustrations there and can return on the same path back with a more relaxed attitude of hope and contentment. With this labyrinth's waterfalls, shade trees, neat and uniform design of the path and edges, and to include the lunations and pedals, this is an excellently built and positioned labyrinth!
