The Kennedy Peak shelter can be accessed from multiple spots, the closest is the roadside parking trailhead at Edith Gap, the bonus is the view to the east. The hike first follows the Massanutten Trail then follows the Kennedy Peak Trail. It is smooth in some sections but generally it is all rocky.
The Shelter is a small stone building with a rooftop deck that provides 360 views. It sleeps 3-4 adults but there are spots nearby to pitch a tent if it feels crowded.
