Built about 1848 by James Andress from South Carolina, The Andress Inn was the center of Civic, Social, and Business Affairs in early Polk County. The Inn contained a restaurant, saloon, grocery store, post office, and a state station with a livery stable nearby. Among noted guests was General Sam Houston.
