This chapel sits down off the edge of a hill. The parking lot was made level and this made the church behind the landscape wall down the hill and full view block a bit.
A large cross, inside a design, which resembles a prime rib serving is in the upper parking lot.
Lake St, Louis city ordinance requires all buildings to be muted earth colors, so this chapel is a soften brown in shade
The church has a large following in person, and an even larger following on the internet.
"Chapel of the Lake is a non-denominational church unified around the belief that the Word of God should shape and guide every facet of our lives.
"As we grow together, we hope to build relationships and make lasting impact in our community by sharing God's love which is open to all who seek Him
Values and culture
We are a community of people who have joined together to pursue Christ, proclaim Christ, and practice His love.
"The Chapel has determined four essential engagements that drive everything we do: Grow, Connect, Serve, Reach.
Grow is focused on growing people in their faith and knowledge of God. Growth happens in a variety of ways, and we encourage everyone to be pursuing at least one area of spiritual growth. A few ministries that are focused on growth include Sunday school classes and mid-week bible studies.
Connect is focused on connecting people to the church and its family. No one is expected to live life by themselves, and the church offers real community based on God and His word. Connection begins with the worship service and is hopefully continued throughout the week through fellowship events and home groups.
Serve is focused on using our gifts and abilities to serve God and others though the various ministries of our church. Service happens in response to spiritual growth and in connection with the church body. Whether it's service inside our church, or out in the community, every Chapel member is encouraged to get involved!
Reach is focused on reaching out beyond the church walls and into our community and the world. It is the duty of all Christians to be a light for the gospel in their sphere of influence. By supporting various community organizations, ministries, and global missionaries we hope to bring the hope of Jesus to a world in need." ~ Chapel of the Lake
