Turkey Run State Park was the second to be established in the State. The park features a large lodge, cabins, a Nature Center, and a swimming pool. The park is crisscrossed with trails suitable for both walking and horseback riding; there is a stable and saddle barn to serve equestrians. Two covered bridges span Sugar Creek at the east and west ends of the Park; you can swim, boat, and fish in the creek.

 Background: Turkey Run State Park, Indiana's second state park, began with the purchase of land in 1916 when Indiana's State Park System was first established. The name might stem from the frequent sightings of wild turkeys in the area. The Turkey Run Inn was built in 1919, and several of the guest cabins near the inn date from the 1930s and 1940s. Two historic pioneer cabins and the park itself are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
