Bremerton was named in 1891, after its planner, German immigrant William Bremer.

The flag of the City of Bremerton is a white field, the central third occupied by a rectangle reaching almost to the upper and lower edges, outlined in aquamarine. In the upper two-thirds is a white square outlined in navy blue, with a large navy blue serifed letter B centered inside it. A small navy blue ship's wheel is contained in the lower lobe of the B. Below the white square is a horizontal rectangle in aquamarine, with the navy blue block letters CITY OF BREMERTON contained within. The elements of the flag represent the importance of maritime work and commerce and the influence of the U.S. Navy on the port city of Bremerton.

The Norm Dicks Government Center's address is:

345 6th Street
Bremerton, WA 98337

On most days, the three flagpoles outside the building will fly the U.S. flag accompanied by the POW/MIA flag, the flag of the State of Washington and the Bremerton city flag. Wait for a good breeze (fortunately, as close as Bremerton's downtown is to Puget Sound, this happens pretty regularly) and take your best photo!
