The labyrinth at St. John's Episcopal Church is a large 50 foot diameter circle with a wide pathway. The path is made of crushed red granite and is edged with rectangular cut white stone. The labyrinth is placed in the back corner of the parking lot, next to an open field that appears to have large vegetable garden areas planted. These garden areas begin near the labyrinth and extend into the field.
This is a classical labyrinth with the path designed to walk you through the four quarters of the path as it turns and folds its way toward the center. At the start of the pathway there is a wooden sign with LABYRINTH engraved into it. Next to the sign is a post with a metal box containing information about the purpose of a labyrinth and hints on how to walk a labyrinth.
The pathway to the labyrinth's center is designed to complement the concept that walking a labyrinth allows you to meditate and release your tensions and worries on the way in. At the center, you can leave those frustrations there and can return on the same path back with a more relaxed attitude of hope and contentment.
