The Buckingham Congregational Church was organized in the the early 18th century when settlers in East Glastonbury broke away from First Church of Wethersfield to form a separate congregation to avoid traveling many miles to attend services. The current church was build in the Greek revival style in 1941.
A set of steps lead up to a portico entrance which has three fluted Doric columns supporting a pediment. The portico is flanked by a pair of Doric piasters on each side. Inside are three rectangular entrances with four by 2 pane transom window.
Rising from the pediment and the gable roof is a steeple with two square towers supporting a belfry. Above is an octagonal tower and spire.
The north side has a projecting auxiliary entrance at the the first bay and 4 by 8 pane double hung windows at the remaining three bays. The south side has four 4 by 8 pane double hung windows and an addition projecting to the south.
