Elaborately carved wooden font cover in Holy Trinity church, Kendal.
The font, made of black marble dates from the 15th century. The cover was subscribed to by the ‘ladies of the church’ and erected in 1898 to the memory of Archdeacon Cooper, a former Vicar.
The cover is a tall spire, carved with rectilinear tracery windows. It is topped by a carved bird, possibly a phoenix.
