Manuel Azueta Perillos (Pueblo Viejo, Veracruz, México; 24 de diciembre de 1862 - Veracruz, Veracruz, México; 20 de diciembre de 1928) fue un marino mexicano que se le caracterizó por su heroica y audaz lucha en la defensa nacional durante la Ocupación estadounidense de Veracruz el 21 de abril de 1914 al poner en pie de lucha a los cadetes de la Heroica Escuela Naval Militar.
Al iniciarse el desembarco de las fuerzas estadounidenses, el 21 de Abril 1914, el comodoro Azueta se presentó en la Heroica Escuela Naval Militar, donde los cadetes esperaban las órdenes conducentes ante situación tan crítica, tomando el cargo y ordenando la defensa de la plaza. Luego de ello se desencadenaron los hechos sangrientos en que los cadetes lucharon por detener el avance invasor, cayendo mortalmente el cadete Virgilio Uribe. Resultó herido de muerte su hijo José Azueta.

Se trata de una estatua de 3 m de altura, realizada en bronce y que muestra al comodoro dirigiendo la batalla de Veracruz.


Manuel Azueta Perillos (Pueblo Viejo, Veracruz, Mexico; December 24, 1862 - Veracruz, Veracruz, Mexico; December 20, 1928) was a Mexican sailor who was characterized by his heroic and daring fight in the national defense during the American Occupation of Veracruz on April 21, 1914 by putting the cadets of the Heroica Escuela Naval Militar on their feet.
At the beginning of the disembarkation of the American forces, on April 21, 1914, Commodore Azueta appeared at the Heroic Naval Military School, where the cadets were waiting for the appropriate orders in such a critical situation, taking charge and ordering the defense of the plaza. After that, the bloody events were unleashed in which the cadets fought to stop the invading advance, with the death of cadet Virgilio Uribe. His son José Azueta was mortally wounded.

The statue is a 3m height one, made in Bronze and displaying the comodore leading the Veracruz battle.
