Warm up the leg muscles, because it is quite a climb to the top of St. John's Tower. Fortunately, you don't have to do the 218 steps of the narrow spiral staircase in one go: the guide will show you all kinds of sights along the way.

"View from St. John's Tower
Once on the sixth floor, 43 meters above street level, you can go outside. You are now standing right next to the gigantic clockwork. The gold-plated large hand is no less than 1.75 meters long. Here you will be rewarded with a magnificent view over the historic city center - and even further afield when the weather is clear!"

About the St John's cathedral:
"The Cathedral Basilica of Saint John the Evangelist, commonly referred to as Saint John's Cathedral, in the inner city of 's-Hertogenbosch is often regarded as the pinnacle of Brabantine Gothic. The particularly harmonious interior is the result of the unity of style that was maintained throughout the building period from the end of the fourteenth to the beginning of the sixteenth century. The exterior, with its lavish ornaments, such as the double flying buttresses with the 96 flying buttress figures and the reliefs above the windows, provides a striking image of the ornamental passion of the late Gothic period. Sint-Jan is 'a structure that is completely unique in Dutch ecclesiastical architecture."
