Die Sendung mit der Maus ist eine der erfolgreichsten Kindersendungen im deutschen Fernsehen. Kern der Sendung sind sogenannte Lach- und Sachgeschichten, zu denen neben kurzen Zeichentrickfilmen auch jeweils ein Wissensfilm, beispielsweise über die Herstellung oder Funktionsweise eines Alltagsgegenstandes, zählt. Sie wird seit 1971 am Sonntagvormittag ausgestrahlt. Produziert wird die Sendung vom WDR in Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Mitgliedssendern der ARD.

The "Sendung mit der Maus" is one of the most successful children's programs on German television. The core of the program are so-called laughter and factual stories, which, in addition to short cartoons, also include a knowledge film, for example about the production or functioning of an everyday object. It has been broadcast on Sunday mornings since 1971. The program is produced by WDR in cooperation with other ARD member stations.
For the 50th anniversary of the "Sendung mit der Maus" the WDR has set up a new mouse figure in front of the "Vierscheibenhaus" in Cologne.
