[EN] “The artist Yoseba MP, artistic name of Joseba Muruzábal, is the author of this large mural in Rúa San Martiño de Abaixo, a highly visible place as it is at the intersection with the town's main street.

The protagonist of the illustration is Erundina, an elderly neighbor from Quiroga, since Yoseba is the creator of the already famous 'super-grandmothers', with whom he intends to reflect "a reality that we all see, and that I represent in a more fictional terrain and with more humour". They are "rural phenomena" to which he, he points out "field work gives you amazing energy and physical condition."

Before beginning to capture his figure on the wall of the building, the artist met with Erundina during the creative process. "It surprises me that he has three shopping carts, one hired as a walker; another, larger, to look for water; and, finally, one to go to firewood," says Yoseba. Seeing him, he decided that Erundina should appear on the mural riding her particular walker.

Muruzábal knows in detail some aspects of the life of this grandmother from Quiroga and says that the only thing missing was including her facet in the lace technique, "because she is a teacher and has a house full of quilts and everything with borders." He always tries to know about them in depth to be able to "do a work that reflects her life," he said.

The artist maintains contact with some of the women that he has painted as part of his 'super-grandmothers' project. Without going any further, during the creation of the mural some ladies followed the creative process, while others already see the portrait before it is a reality on the wall.”
