The Winding Stair Bookshop is a combination bookshop on the lower level and restaurant on the upper level. It is located on the north side of the Ha'penny Bridge. The name comes from the poem with the same name by William Butler Yeats. The interior features a winding staircase. In the 1970s and 1980s it was a literary landmark attracting artists and writers. It was saved from closure in 2006 by Elaine Murphy who added the restaurant.
The stamp was issued by Ireland in August 18, 2016 as part of a set of two stamps featuring Irish shop fronts.
