This verse from the Gospel of Saint Matthew is located on the Basilica of Saint Louis, King of France on the corner of Memorial Drive and Walnut Street in St. Louis, Missouri. The first church was built on this site in 1770. Construction on the current building was begun in 1831, and the church was consecrated in 1834. It served as the Cathedral until 1914 when the new Cathedral of Saint Louis was consecrated. The church was designated as a Basilica by Pope Saint John XXIII in 1961.

Inscribed into the wall to the right of the main door is the 13th verse from the 21st chapter of the Gospel of Saint Matthew in French: "Ma maison sera appelee la maison de priere." The English translation of this verse from the Douay-Rheims version of the Bible is, "My house shall be called the house of prayer." This verse is part of the story of the "Cleansing of the Temple," during which Jesus cast out the merchants from the temple. It serves as an important reminder to treat the church as a holy place of prayer.
