This new mural is in a retro postcard design and measures 40 feet high and 170 feet long and greets visitors at the intersection of Gordon Street and American Parkway. It is painted on the side wall of a former mill which is being converted to loft apartments.

Each letter has a painting of local interest:

A Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs AAA Baseball Team
L Allentown Fire Department
L Liberty Bell (hidden nearby in the American Revolution_
E City of Allentown Crest
N Dieruff High School Huskies
T Allen High School Canaries
O 1776 US Bicentennial
W Lehigh Valley Phantoms AHL Hockey Team
N Allentown Police Department

Local Developer Nat Hyman based the mural, located on the side of his building at 347 Gordon Street, after a similar one in Chicago. He commissioned Baltimore artist Edward Williams to paint the 7,000-square-foot greeting.

It took the artist about 10 days to finish. The space underneath will become a park, where Hyman encourages people to come and enjoy the greeting.
