El Dorado State Park covers about four thousand acres along El Dorado Reservoir in the scenic Flint Hills. This trailhead is at the archery range parking lot, which is a bit west of the main park complex. There is plenty of parking, and the trail is (for the most part) an easy hike. The trail takes you through a bottomland hardwood forest, a seasonal spring, and a small stand of Paw Paw trees. For those interested in such things, one of the Elder Caches (from 2001) is on this trail.
