Meriwether Lewis and William Clark named this creek after the date on which they stopped here - July 4th, 1804. Plaques at both ends of the bridge give some history of that event. This covered footbridge spans that creek, connecting a parking area on Highway 59 to the Santa Fe Depot and Museum on the north side.
Current Condition of Bridge: Excellent
 Description of Covered Bridge: The bridge has a wood deck, and is covered with a brown-shingle gable roof with a cupola at the center. The handrails are wood and iron, all a uniform color (brown). Historical plaques at each end give some history about the area.
