This fine copper bell, intended for the county courthouse, was never installed - in Columbus, Kansas.

This 800-lb copper bell was purchased in 1919 and was intended for use in the courthouse. However, a 1200-lb school bell was installed there instead; according to the plaque, it had "better tone." That old school bell is now in the nearby clock tower. This never-used bell is now on permanent display.
