"Constructed in 1913 as the DeSoto Hotel, this three-story building at 154 E. GE Patterson contains over 14,000 square feet. Construction consists of a brick façade, concrete foundation, wood framing, and a modified bitumen roofing material. The windows on the main (south) façade have stone lintels, sills, quoins, and a balustrade – all original. The windows on the east and west elevations have curved brick headers and stone sills. All windows are double-hung, single-light wood windows. This is consistent with the original function of a hotel off of Main Street – it wasn’t immensely decorated, as it probably offered housing to less privileged individuals, but still had a little extra flair. The original large glass openings of the ground level hotel office and store have been filled in with brick. A central entry with flanking columns is an alteration made after the 1960’s."
