There are records of a chapel on this site from 1554, although the present building dates largely from 1845, but incorporates parts of an older church.

The east window depicts Christ the Good Shepherd, alpha and omega, and is by Shrigley and Hunt, 1895.

South wall chancel window has heraldic coats of arms, Jackson Family, Merchant Taylors School, St John's College, Oxford and badge of the Imperial Yeomanry; a memorial to Henry Corrie Jackson, d.1900.
