You don't have to look hard around St. Cloud to see the legacy left by the Works Progress Administration — the largest of the federal agencies created during the New Deal in the 1930s.
From the Selke Field wall on the city's southeast side to the old Whitney Airport gateway near what is now Whitney Park, a number of WPA projects are still standing today.
The agency was in existence from 1935-43. And at its peak in 1938, it employed well over 3 million workers who had been left unemployed or underemployed because of the Great Depression.
