"Location
The equestrian statue of Douglas Haig is located on the Place du Théatre, opposite the Place du Général de Gaulle.
After being presented at the museum of the 3 wars of Diors, the original plaster is now kept in the departmental collections of the Meuse.
History
The bronze equestrian statue is made by Paul Landowski, in homage to Marshal Douglas Haig, whose British headquarters, placed under his command, was located in Montreuil.
This sculpture is created in the great classical tradition: immobilized horse, the rider adopts a hieratic pose, dressed in his sober Field marshal uniform.
The inauguration took place on June 28, 1931, 9 years later, it was unbolted and melted down by the Germans during the Second World War.
It was recast from the original mold and placed in front of the theater on June 25, 1950. It benefited from improvements around 1993: lake, frame of lime trees and low beds."
