Esta puerta forma parte del segundo recinto amurallado de la ciudad, dando acceso al centro urbano desde la carretera N-122, justo enfrente del Verraco Celtibérico. Atravesando el arco de la puerta y siguiendo en línea recta la calle nos lleva directamente al Ayuntamiento.

Es del siglo XIV y lleva el nombre de la Iglesia de Santa Catalina, que se encuentra a unos pasos y existía con anterioridad a la construcción de la puerta. Por ella pasaron personajes históricos como Felipe II o Pedro I.


De este segundo recinto amurallado se conserva también la Puerta de la Corredera, y del primer recinto la Puerta del Mercado (con la Torre del Reloj) y el Arco del Postigo.

This gate is part of the second walled enclosure of the city, giving access to the urban center from the N-122 road, just in front of the Celtiberian Boar. Crossing the arch of the door and following the street in a straight line leads directly to the Town Hall.

It dates from the 14th century and bears the name of the Church of Santa Catalina, which is located a few steps away and existed before the gate was built. Historical figures such as Felipe II or Pedro I passed through it.


The Puerta de la Corredera has also been preserved from this second walled enclosure, and from the first enclosure the Puerta del Mercado (with the Clock Tower) and the Arco del Postigo.
