Pte Blake Williamson was a 23 year old Private serving with the First Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment when he was killed in action in Afghanistan on 14 October, 2006 during his second tour of duty.

He was born in Kemptville in 1983, joining the Canadian Army following high school.

The Kemptville Armoury, also known as the Drill Hall was built in 1914 at the onset of the First World War. It is a brick pattern very common throughout Canada.

It was one of several camps administered by the Brockville Rifles, providing support to the 156th Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF).

Following the war it was used by the local militia, the local Fire Department, and currently the local Sea Cadet Corps.

The whole building is considered a memorial. However there is a simple wooden frame marker with Pte Williamson's picture and a short narrative affixed to the building near the main entrance.

The inscription reads:

Private Blake Williamson Memorial Hall

Dedicated to the memory of Pte Blake Williamson
1st Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment

Killed in action in Afghanistan October 14, 2006

"Man hath no greater love than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."

John 15:13
