EN: The town hall of Aarburg stands in the center of the old town at the foot of the fortress.
It was built in 1828 on the site of a smaller predecessor building and survived the fire of 1840 together with the adjacent houses.
The main facade has three floors with seven rows of windows and a double flight of steps leading to the main entrance above the gate to the cellar vaults. In the south, the town hall is connected with the neighboring house. The interior has been heavily altered by reconstructions in the last 200 years, but a considerable part of the original building fabric still exists.
DE: Das Rathaus von Aarburg steht im Zentrum der Altstadt am Fuss der Festung.
Es wurde 1828 an der Stelle eines kleineren Vorgängergebäudes errichtet und überstand den Brand von 1840 zusammen mit den angrenzenden Häusern.
Die Hauptfassade hat drei Stockwerke mit sieben Fnsterreihen und eine zweiläufige Freitreppe zum Haupteingang über dem Tor zu den Kellergewölben. Im Süden ist das Rathaus mit dem Nebenhaus verbunden. Das Innere wurde durch Umbauten in den letzten 200 Jahren stark verändert, ein beträchtlicher Teil der originalen Bausubstanz ist aber noch vorhanden.
