Cuerpo De Bomberos PTO. PTA. - Firehouses on Waymarking.com

This firehouse, facing the sea, is located in the building on the corner of Emilio Prud'homme Street and General Gregorio Luperón Avenue, in San Felipe de Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. It is the oldest of the two firehouses of the city.

The national fire brigade (Cuerpo de Bomberos) for the island of Dominican Republic was founded by national hero from Puerto Plata, general Gregorio Luperón, through decree no. 1851, which became law on June 29th, 1912. The actual building was build in 1930 and it is in service ever since.

The fire department building has been considered a historic landmark and attraction, portrayed in videos and documentaries.

An interesting fact, some equipment (mainly trucks) was donated by Rochester NY Fire Department.
