Grafton Military Hospital
The Civil War led to major changes in Military medical facilities. In March 1862, the inadequate hospital at Grafton consisted of 5 tents and 2 small houses. Within a month, a pavilion~style military hospital, with ridge ventilation and similar to a 130 x 25 foot structure at Parkersburg, was being built. In late 1864, the multi~ward military hospital at Grafton held 342 beds.
