The former police station located on Merrial Street in Newcastle-under-Lyme. It was the third police station built in 1936 and closed in 2012.

The foundation stone is inscribed as follows;
THIS STONE WAS LAID
BY THE MAYOR
JOHN BENTLEY J.P.
ON 14TH FEBRUARY 1935
JOSEPH GRIFFITH M.A.LLD TOWN CLERK

NEWCASTLE-UNDER-LYME BOROUGH POLICE can still be seen above the main entrance door.

The prominent 1930's building was bought by engineering consultant Drayton Beaumont Services in 2020.
The new owner submitted an application to change the use of the old Merrial Street building, and relocated their offices to the second floor of the building.

In 2022 The Gym at the Nick opened in the converted cells of the former town centre police station.
It is spread over two floors with fitness studios upstairs and the gym downstairs. The interior has been transformed and the only things which give away its past as the police cells are the high windows on the ground floor. Source: (visit link)

Visit Instructions:
To log a visit, you must post a photo of you in front of the building described, with your GPS in the photo. No drive by photos.

I have had NO problems with taking photos of Police stations but please respect the fact that some services may be nervous about having their photo taken and inquire as to why... I have found that once things are explained they are more than happy to let me photograph the building, crest, chief... (they are people too!)
